First, the team showed up 2 weeks after the initial visit. Worse than the delay was the complete lack of communication throughout the process ? getting updates or even basic responses was frustratingly difficult. The biggest issue, however, was the quality of the work. Their installation was poorly executed, and we ended up having to hire another company to fix their mistake ? costing us even more money on top of what we already paid Groundworks. We trusted them with an important job in our home and feel completely let down. I would not recommend Groundworks to anyone looking for reliable, professional service."

Placing either a layer of mixed-size gravel or a paver base under your crushed concrete driveway is a good idea. The smaller pieces will compress and prevent the larger pieces of concrete from driving into the soil below, helping to avoid sinking over time under the weight of vehicles. In general, you can expect concrete to last 30 to 50 years. However, the type of concrete, site prep, and climate all affect how long concrete lasts. Concrete houses will last for between 75 and 150 years, depending on the environmental factors in your area. Unlike lumber in stick-built houses, concrete doesn’t rot, and it’s more resistant to wildfires and earthquake damage, so you’ll almost always get a longer lifespan from a concrete house than you would a traditionally framed one.

A properly installed 6-inch concrete slab, mixed and cured under the right conditions, can support about 3,000 pounds concentrated over a single square foot without buckling. Conversely, concrete pavers can handle around 8,000 pounds per square inch when laid over a solid, well-compacted base.
