Gunite pools are not exactly easy to maintain—but we wouldn't call them "high maintenance." It's one of the longest-lasting pool options, but its porous surface does require a lot of care. You’ll need to thoroughly clean the pool often to prevent stubborn algae growth, and the pool will require higher chemical levels to keep it clean. 

Liquid chlorine is better for shock treatments or instances where you need to raise your chlorine levels quickly. Tablets are better for regular maintenance. Tablets take more time to dissolve but require less effort. You don’t need to measure out volume, and you can set them in a floater and let that do the work.

If you've decided to fill in or remove your pool, begin by researching local, reputable pool removal companies to take care of the job for you. There are a variety of companies and contractors that can handle the work. You can start by looking for demolition or construction companies. Also, some pool builders will handle fills and removals.

You do not need to excavate or lay a foundation for a stock tank pool. You should, however, level the area where you plan to put the stock tank. Also, stock tanks full of water and people can get heavy, so do not place them on a deck or other raised structure that could collapse from the weight.
