"Because of a slow start and inclement weather the yard was finally cleared of old sod and the ground loosened and raked to remove all debris and leveled where necessary. New top soil and fertilizer was added to the bare ground. Then new St. Augustine sod was laid in the entire front yard. It is beautiful. Hats off to Rocky and crew. KB in MBGY Myrtle Beach, SC"

  • Equisetum scirpoides (Dwarf horsetail rush): non-dwarf varieties of horsetail are fast growers and can take over quickly.

  • Juncus effusus (Curly rush)

  • Osmunda regalis (Royal fern): Royal fern can grow quickly but can also handle being crowded, making them good container plants.

The soil around your foundation should slope down and away from your home, not toward it. If the grading drops the farther you are from your home, you can enhance the slope by removing more soil. Mark off a few feet from your house and dig up some of this soil. Regrading around your fountain should encourage water to flow away from your home and not collect or “pond.”
