"I am the president of an HOA with 26 townhomes. One of the townhomes was having a leak issue. They came out and figured out where the problem was most likely and fixed it quickly. Our previous stucco repair company wanted to charge a lot more and fix an area that didn't even need fixing."

"Called Doug and left contact message per request on Angies List page. Promptly got a return call as well as an onsite visit and proposal, which came in about three days. Doug communicates very well, both by phone and email, so I felt very comfortable in giving him a try. He was avaialble to do the work within a week of my accepatnce and finished it right on schedule. Quality looks fine and pricing was competitve. Would recommend him for stucco work. Am now considering doing some concrete work."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

You should aim to let stucco dry for at least 48 hours before it rains. While misting new stucco and keeping it moderately moist is important for strength and longevity, uncontrolled exposure to rain can lead to weak stucco that doesn’t bond properly. Rain can also affect the stucco finish and the color unevenly, leaving you with less appealing siding.

Properly maintained stucco can enhance insulation, reducing energy loss.

Stucco will dry in two to three days, but you should wait one to two months to allow it to cure fully before you paint it. The curing process is slow, but leaving the material exposed to air and natural moisture will help it reach its maximum strength. If you live in a hot, arid climate, wait a month before painting. Wait two months before painting if you live in a more moderate or wet climate.

German schmear is a durable brick masonry coating. It should last at least a decade or two without flaking or fading, even with minimal maintenance. This makes it an economical option compared to the cost of painting your house exterior, which usually needs to be repainted every five to 10 years to keep it looking its best—thus costing more over the same time period.

A standard drill will work just fine if you’re drilling small holes, and only a few of them. But anything with a diameter larger than 3/8 inch is best done with a hammer drill, since it is stronger, faster, and also makes your drill bits last longer. While you don’t absolutely need a hammer drill for stucco, it is a worthy investment if you think you might drill more holes down the road.
