If you need your gravel driveway leveled and/or gravel spread or if you need a backhoe to dig a trench or remove a tree stump give me a call. I have a 32 HP Kubota tractor with bucket loader, grapple, backhoe, box blade, landscaping rake, and rototiller. My bucket and box blade are 72" wide. My tiller is 60" wide and great for preparing gardens or beds.

"Tyler and his family are incredible people with an incredible work ethic. We had a 200ft gravel driveway installed brand new. I had in my head how it should be done as well as look when completed. Let me tell you, expectations were exceeded by a long shot! It's a work of art to me. Compared to everyone else's driveway in the area. Tyler was one of the best contractors I've ever worked with. Period!"

Enhance your outdoor living with our comprehensive landscape services! We specialize in creating inviting outdoor spaces, including designing and building outdoor kitchens and fireplaces. Our expertise extends to fire pits, paver patios and walkways, drainage solutions, and plant installations. Trust us to transform your yard with mulch, side stone, and edging. Let us elevate your outdoor experience!"

"We have hired Birch & Boulder for two jobs. One was a drainage system and another was a large rock bed and retaining wall. The owner Bryan did a great job listening to what we had thought about and added some great insight and ideas to our original plans. The results of both jobs were excellent. The workers and Bryan all went the extra mile to make sure that the yard was in as good a shape as possible when they were done. Good value, honest quotes, punctual, good communication both in person and by phone and email, finished on time, just an all around good experience. I highly recommend you consider having them quote whatever project you are considering."

FAQs for stone and gravel service projects in Wake Forest, NC

The average cost of a gravel driveway is about $1.25 to $2 per square foot, including the cost of materials, equipment, and professional installation. For example, a 16-by-30-foot driveway costs about $1,500. Cost factors include the type of gravel, how thick the gravel is installed, the condition of the landscape, and labor costs. Overall costs will vary depending on where you live and how accessible the job site is.

Because gravel moves, it requires different maintenance than asphalt or concrete. Here are a few maintenance tips for your gravel driveway. Every few years (or as often as needed):

  • Grade and level your driveway

  • Rake to fill holes and ruts

  • Compact any refilled potholes

  • Remove weeds with herbicide or by hand

  • Spray it with water to reduce the amount of dust kicked up

  • Avoid using a snowplow during winter months

A gravel driveway should last for up to 100 years with proper upkeep, which is minimal. Maintaining a gravel driveway includes grading and adding fresh gravel to fill in potholes. Otherwise, a gravel driveway holds up well to all kinds of weather. Plowing in the winter can be challenging and the gravel can develop ruts or potholes that need to be repaired, but the cost and longevity of gravel compared to concrete, asphalt, and pavers makes gravel an economical option, especially for long and/or wide driveways.

A gravel driveway should be at least 4 to 6 inches deep, depending on the soil it’s installed on. Softer soil that doesn’t drain well should have a deeper gravel driveway. Deeper gravel will mean you spend more on materials and labor, but you’ll get a more stable driveway and avoid damage that needs to be filled or graded flat again.
