The entire experience overall was excellent. Courteous, professional, and thorough work was performed. Jim worked a good four hours on our carpets, explained everything and made our carpets look like new. The carpets looked so nice and so perfect we hated to even have to walk on them when all was done. Carolina Restoration & Carpet Cleaning are the ones to call when you want the job done right ! They are a pleasure to work with.

"Mark did an excellent job. He cares about his work and wants to make sure you are satisfied. While providing and estimate he took note of a gutter that needed to be replaced and gave me an excellent price. I asked about a chimney cap and he came back to do that as well. I was more than pleased with the services provided and would definitely hire again!"

"We had David put in security bars and doors on our house. David had great ideas for several of our doors that worked out really well. The iron is high quality and the workmanship is excellent. We enjoyed working with David and his team and like that this is a family business yet professional. The workers that fitted and secured the iron were extremely hard working, fast and thorough. We couldn't be happier with our experience."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.
