Our company has both certified residential and commercial appraisers experienced in valuing real estate in western North Carolina. Big or small, complicated or simple, we can help.

"I hired Mike McGrew in September of 2023 to do an appraisal for a conversation easement and he wanted payment up front which he got. It?s December of 2025 and still no appraisal and no refund of my money. I had to hire another appraiser in September of this year and he completed it by early December. I would not recommend this appraiser to appraise a dog house. He is very unprofessional in his work. He would not respond to calls or texts from me or the soil and water service. If you need an appraisal please go somewhere else "

Property Appraiser questions, answered by experts

The condition and appearance of your yard can affect your home appraisal value. A well-maintained, attractive yard with curb appeal adds to a property’s value, while an overgrown, messy, poorly maintained yard can hurt your home’s appraisal. Even small cosmetic improvements to your yard, like adding mulch, trimming trees, and cleaning out plant beds, can help your appraisal value.

To get the highest appraisal value possible for your home, make any necessary repairs and updates prior to the appraisal. Some examples of tasks include updating landscaping to boost curb appeal, renovate older areas of the home, and consider staging your home. Keep in mind that some aspects of the appraisal are out of your control, such as comparable properties nearby.

In cases where an appraisal comes in lower than an offer price, sellers might opt to lower their asking price to meet the appraisal, especially if the market is slow, and replacing the offer with a higher one may take a long time. Sellers can also offer to make repairs to boost the appraised value, hire another appraiser to get a second opinion, or just move on to another offer that isn’t contingent on the buyer getting a mortgage or an appraisal inspection.

Yes, hiring a real estate agent is worth it. Many homeowners make the mistake of trying to sell their homes by themselves, thinking that they’ll save money on the commission, but what they save on the commission, they very often pay for in frustration and concessions on the sale price. Hiring a real estate agent to handle the sale of your home not only makes the process far easier and takes the burden off of you, but most homeowners get more for their homes when going through an agent because of the marketing and salesmanship they bring to the table.

Ensures accurate valuation reflecting current market conditions, assisting in financial decisions.
