"Lighting was installed quickly and professionally. Technician was very knowledgeable and assisted me with setting the controls for the on/off times by Wi Fi. I was very pleased with the service I received. NuBlue Electric will be the very first company I will call for any future electrical work I Need. "We could not be more happy with the service we received from Sam. He added electricity to our 12 x 24 foot shed that we had built in our back yard. He ran electrical lines from our breaker box to the back yard. He installed fluorescent lights and outlets inside our shed and an exterior light to meet code. From the time that I initially contacted him for a quote to the follow-up call we received after he was done, everything was done completely professional and to code. We had received a couple quotes from other electricians and none of them mentioned doing work to code. Sam ensured that we had a zoning permit and that was very reassuring because that meant we knew everything was going to be done by the book. The end project was way above my expectations and we got exactly everything that we wanted, plus the county passed our permit."

"Excellent! I received 3 quotes from electricians to install recessed lighting in my home. Manny was 1/4 the cost. I was sceptical to go with the cheapest of the three especially being so much less but I'm very happy I hired Manny for the job. He was on time, courteous, professional, and did exactly what I wanted. I will hire again."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

Carbon monoxide emissions aren’t only dangerous to human life, but they also harm our planet. While natural gas generators emit lower levels of CO than other fuel sources, there are still ways to reduce emission levels. For example, shop around for an eco-friendly generator that complies with current emission standards. Also, make sure your generator is serviced regularly to avoid CO buildup.

Yes, in most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home models. Because these installations involve significant alterations to your home's electrical system and produce exhaust fumes, local governments often require a permit or inspection for safety purposes. A generator permit typically costs between $50 and $250, depending on your location. Your electrician or certified installer can usually handle the permitting process for you, but you will be responsible for the cost. It's a good practice to confirm with your installer that they will pull all necessary permits before work begins.

Homeowners can often access federal tax credits, such as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which covers a percentage of installation costs. Many states and utilities offer additional rebates, grants, or performance-based incentives. These programs can significantly lower your upfront investment. Check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) or contact your local energy office for current offers.

If you’re wondering if you can use your electric vehicle as a backup battery, it depends on whether your EV is compatible with bidirectional charging. This technology allows energy to flow both ways, enabling vehicle-to-home (V2H) backup power, vehicle-to-load (V2L) for appliances and camping, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to support the power grid. Compatible EVs convert stored DC energy into usable AC power, helping reduce energy costs and enhance grid stability while providing emergency backup power.
