"He replaced my wooden fence with vinyl fencing. Put a new water line and faucet in my backyard where there was none. Put in a French drain so area of my yard wouldn’t have a lake any more. Did some minor electrical replacing switches."

"Jeremy was awesome! I came from out of town to do some upgrades on my parents bathroom and ran into some electrical issues. He was on time, came in and got right to business. Very professional and even went the extra mile to fix some minor safety issues. He worked until he was able to pinpoint issue which was so minor we all just laughed. Thank you, Jeremy!! Awesome job!!"

Small jobs welcome

"This time all we needed was to A) have our crawl-space vents repaired so critters won’t get in this winter, B) get a mystery smell addressed and C) replace a few shingles on another one of our multiple roofs. Handyman Cameron McCall to the rescue. Cameron is a motivated and personable young man working hard to make a living and build his business. We appreciate both his work ethic and his ambition. He is responsive, reasonable and reliable – and I will absolutely call him again in the future."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

It may sound icky, but yes, urine encourages microbial activity that breaks down organic matter faster. It’s rich in nitrogen, which helps balance carbon-heavy materials like dry leaves or straw. Use sparingly and apply it to a well-balanced pile, not one already high in nitrogen.

To remove old grass effectively, you typically need to dig to one to two inches. This depth typically allows you to reach the root system of the grass, ensuring thorough removal. However, if the grass is a particularly dense or deep-rooted variety (such as Bermuda grass), or if you're planning to replace it with a different landscaping feature, you may need to dig deeper to loosen the soil and remove any underlying roots.

Several tools exist that can help remove unwanted grass. The one you choose depends greatly on how much you need to remove and how hard you'd like to work. A sod or turf cutter is the fastest method while using a shovel is labor-intensive and much slower. You may also need a garden rake, tiller, and wheelbarrow.

This depends on how many leaves there are. Mowing over dry and crisp leaves with a bagging attachment saves most homeowners a lot of time. If you have a smaller lawn and few leaves to mulch, you can put the leaves into a stand-alone mulcher resembling a wood chipper and collect the mulch from a hopper. This prevents having to do multiple passes with a mower.

It typically takes six to 12 months for leaves to decompose entirely. The process involves the mulch composting into your lawn to deliver nutrients that facilitate grass growth. The recommended process is to spread a thick layer of leaf mulch over your garden and let it marinate for a few seasons for best long-term results.
