I contacted him and he apologized and stated he would be there the next day. However, he never showed up and blocked me. I tried contacting him several ways and he will not respond. Several days later I found a bunch of the leftover cement that they dumped on the vacant property next door to me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!"

A floating slab is a single chunk of concrete that sits directly on flat soil, while a monolithic slab is a single piece of concrete that includes built-in footings that reach several feet below where the majority of the slab sits. Monolithic slabs provide more support, so they’re suitable for home construction, whereas floating slabs get minimal support from the soil directly below and are more common under sheds and detached garages.

One of the best base materials for a floating deck is a layer of gravel or compacted paver base to promote drainage and stability. More important than most of the finer details, though, is the symmetry from the exterior. On the interior, ornate plaster moldings and plaster ceiling medallions are indicative of the style.

Concrete shrinkage cracks are very common and should be expected. Even professionals end up with shrinkage cracks on newly poured concrete slabs. Remember that these cracks are not harmful to the slab's strength, though some homeowners do prefer to fill in the cracks for aesthetics. When installing concrete, you can avoid ample concrete shrinkage cracks by avoiding hot, sunny, or windy days.
