"After further inspection I found that there were spots that hadn’t been cleaned. There were baseboards that hadn’t been cleaned and there was dust under the beds and dressers in the bed rooms. I was told that it would be included in the cleaning. It wasn’t."

Most washing machines will not remove gum. In fact, running an item with gum on it through a washing machine will make the matter worse. The combination of water, movement, and detergent can cause the gum to break down. Instead of it remaining in one piece, the gum can spread and stick to other items during the wash cycle. If you’re lucky, the gum will stay in the pocket it was left in, so you only have one item to fix. 

The front load washer has a rubber gasket inside the door that prevents water from leaking out as the machine operates. The gasket does its job so well that it doesn’t allow evaporation from inside the drum, which can lead to the formation of odors related to dampness. The top loader doesn’t need a rubber gasket because of the position of its lid, so evaporation occurs easier.

A basic move-out cleaning service typically includes:

However, if your home could use a little more cleaning than the basics, you can optionally add on services, like grout cleaning, carpet shampooing, and window washing.

If you don’t want to remove the sink stopper, pour ½ cup of baking soda and 2 cups of boiling water down the drain. Start by pouring 1 cup of boiling water, then the baking soda, followed by the remaining cup of boiling water. Use caution as boiling water can damage PVC or other plastic piping. Using a scrub brush or slightly abrasive sponge, clean the top of the stopper, and run the faucet to ensure the drain is clear and the stopper is clean. 

A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.
