"Great honest contractors. They did my bathrooms, hot water heater, unclogged my house drain and they did a French drain so my basement is not wet anymore. I already hired them to do my whole roof in the spring. I will hire them anytime."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Correct home building leaves a clear paper trail. A complete inspection record with no failed re-inspections is your primary quality indicator. For properties in Edenton flood zones, a properly completed elevation certificate confirms the finished floor meets base flood requirements. You should also look for proper floodplain development permits, approved historic certificates, and visible hurricane ties at the roof framing to ensure compliance with coastal wind regulations.

Helpful?

Local professionals prioritize life-safety and structural integrity above all else during home building. Next, they address strict flood zone compliance, as foundation elevation errors create severe long-term hazards. Because North Carolina experiences heavy rainfall and high humidity, experts prioritize site drainage and foundation waterproofing early in the process. Contractors also secure all historic approvals and install essential hurricane strapping before concealing any structural framing behind drywall.

Helpful?

During home building in NC, you face several key trade-offs. Elevating your property reduces flood insurance premiums but increases foundation requirements and creates design constraints. In historic areas, period-appropriate materials satisfy preservation rules but offer lower energy efficiency than modern options. You must also balance the desire for a fast timeline against the availability of local professionals who possess the specialized experience needed for coastal and historic construction.

Helpful?

When planning home building, prepare for strict flood zone and elevation requirements. Edenton sits along the water, meaning you need extra time for floodplain permits and elevation certificates. Additionally, navigating historic district rules and managing poorly drained soils demand significant preparation. Plan for a short construction window due to hot, humid summers and potential fall storms. Always secure utility infrastructure plans early to keep your project on track.

Helpful?

The physical state of your lot dictates your entire home building strategy. In Edenton, proximity to the water determines strict base flood elevation needs and foundation types. Existing wetlands or mature trees restrict your buildable area and require special permits. Furthermore, a history of standing water demands thorough soil testing to design a safe foundation. You must also navigate strict lot size constraints and historic boundary rules before finalizing designs.
