"My experience was excellent, from initial call to completion of the work. Great team that showed up on time, conducted themselves well, and were committed to their work. Austin F. Conducted a thorough inspection and proposed a multistage plan to repair my crawlspace. I was especially happy that an engineering firm prepared final inspection and drawings for the county permit process. John, Austin, Taylor, and Chris worked very hard for three days, even in the rain and cold. Great company and people."

"We had damage from Hurricane Isaias. Kent was very prompt in providing estimates and helping us work through the insurance process. He has provided all the documentation the insurance company requested. Work started promptly after our acceptance of the estimates. The work was high quality. It included replacing hardi-board siding, painting, drywall, doors, windows, mold remediation and general carpentry . He provided the right craftsman for the job. The work was completed in a timely fashion."

"I met Justice when Lowes sent him to replace a sliding door at my home. Let me just tell you the amazing work ethic this young man has!!!!!! Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Arrived and communicated like itâ  s supposed to be. Clean, respectful, pleasant and such a pleasure. I than turned around and hired him to do some basics around my home since my husband passed in June 2021. Justice pressure washed my home, replaced walk way lights, hauled off trash and anything that needed to be done around my home. He is now my go to if I ever need something taken care of. Did I mention RELIABLE! You will be completely satisfied with his work and commitment to making his customers satisfied. Sincerely, Barbara"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

Installing a window well costs anywhere from $500 to $1,500 or more. Adding an egress window and well runs about $3,900 on average. Adding a window well cover to the project can add $200 to $700. A well cover helps protect your egress windows from weather damage and keeps them clear of dirt, debris, and wildlife.

Expect excavation below grade, creating a well for access, weatherproofing, and thorough inspections during setup.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.
