"I cannot say enough good  things about this company or the team that we worked with to completely re-carpet our entire home.  We have a large one level house on the water and the carpet was horrible by the time we finally got around to getting new flooring.  Sarah came out to the house with a ton of samples and walked through the benefits of each.  Knowing the type of wear and tear that the floors take, and that we were not ready to invest in hardwoods, we decided on carpeting throughout.  She was able to schedule the crew at a time that worked well for us and they were absolutely fantastic!  The crew was always on time, bright and early, and tore out the old flooring and installed the new faster than I thought possible - all with lots of smiles on their faces.  Honestly loved the experience, love the end result - and I don't think I've EVER said that about another contractor!

"Called FloorTech of SC after carpet installer I initially hired, backed out. Initial installer (names withheld) came to look at the job with 3 helpers and told me he couldn't do the job, because it was going to take more that 1 day. This left me desperate! I found FloorTech of SC on Angie's List, called them and the owner showed up within 2 hours to look at the job. I needed the job done quickly, so FloorTech of SC came out on a Sunday (owner and 1 helper) and finished the job in about 3.5 hours. Very reasonable price, too! I will hire them for all my flooring needs! Thank you John for bailing me out and getting the job done!"

"Can't say enough great things about our cleaning experience. He was very responsive in setting up the appointment, arrived ontime, was courteous in moving around the furniture, was reasonably priced and did a very thorough job cleaning every corner. We were very close to disposing a white/beige rug that we mistakenly placed in a heavily trafficed area and that our old dog had a few accidents on but after the cleaning, it looks brand new and all pet odors were removed! The rugs also dried in less than 2 hours and there were no heavy cleaning fumes. Thank you again and would definitely recommend!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of color options to consider when installing carpet in high-traffic areas (like entrances and stairways). Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Dark carpets will also conceal marks and spills, but they show lint and other light-colored debris. Consider a medium brown or tan for your high-traffic areas. Either way, it’s best to avoid paler shades, like white and cream, which get dirty easily.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. You won’t need to purchase any separate glue to get your carpet squares situated. It’s already built into the carpet tile itself.

To prevent your dining room carpet from slipping, consider using rug pads or grippers underneath to provide traction and stability. Additionally, ensure the carpet is properly sized and secured to the floor to minimize movement. Regularly check and readjust the rug to maintain its position and safety under your dining room table.
