"Took advantage of the 10 yard dumpster weekend rate for a long overdue garage clean-out. Dumpster was delivered a day early, because of a holiday, giving me extra time with no additional fee. Pickup was on time. I'll use this service again when I need a dumpster."

"Paul was very quick and efficient. The dumpster was delivered on time and picked up as soon as we were ready. We mistakenly left something in the dumpster, and he went out of his way to bring it back to us. I would definitely recommend Paul/Raleigh Dumpster Rentals to my family and friends. Thank you for your services."

"This pro was on time and was very efficient. Went over everything described in the job beforehand and also asked me if there was anything additional I want it removed and when he was finished, he made sure that I checked behind him. He also left his business card as a reference in case I needed him in the future, which I’m so glad he did because there was numerous phone calls to my posting. He was polite, very professional and I want to say to him and his team thank you so much. I did try to include multiple photos, but it kept saying the file is too large. I then tried to include only two photos before and after of one section and it still kept saying the file was too large. This pro did an amazing job clearing out TV, a fish tank, multiple pieces of furniture, stainless steel refrigerator, a small wicker sectional and cushions, and area rug, two wicker chairs, Adirondack chairs, barstools w/table & 2 headboards w/ 1 frame without complaint, great price & FAST!! Will call again"

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

The cost varies based on the weight and type of waste. You should discuss options with the rental company regarding project scale for an appropriate fit.

The most affordable way to get rid of junk often involves a do-it-yourself approach, especially if you don't have a large amount of debris. Start by sorting your items into categories: donate, recycle, sell, or trash.

  • Donate or Sell: Usable goods can be donated to local charities. You can also list items for free or for a low price on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

  • Use Municipal Services: Your city's regular garbage collection or bulk pickup days can be the cheapest option. However, be sure to check community guidelines for quantity limits and accepted materials. You can also take recyclables to a city drop-off center.

  • Haul it Yourself: If you have a truck or suitable vehicle, loading the junk and taking it to a local transfer station, public dump, or waste disposal facility is a very cost-effective method.

If a DIY approach isn't possible, consider these options:

  • Rent a Dumpster: You can rent a dumpster, fill it yourself, and the rental company will haul it away. This is a good middle-ground if you can do the labor but don't have a vehicle for transport.

  • Hire a Junk Removal Service: While typically the most expensive choice, hiring a professional junk removal team is the most time-efficient and requires the least effort from you. This is a good solution if your city's services won't accept the items or if you are unable to move them yourself.

You can cut costs and expedite the process of junk removal by following a few essential steps. Use these methods to save on junk removal costs:

  • Sorting items and debris into one area to reduce sorting costs.

  • Contacting local charities or donation centers for free or reduced-cost pickup of donations.

  • For tree-related items like branches, advertise to community members looking for free firewood.

  • Conduct one large clean-out instead of many smaller ones to reduce materials and labor costs.

It depends on the amount of trash you need to unload. Generally, renting a dumpster is more cost-effective than taking trash to the dump yourself if you are dealing with a significant amount of waste. For a small carload worth of junk, it is far cheaper to bring it to the dump yourself.

When deciding what order to pack your home, starting with non-essential items such as seasonal decor, rarely used kitchenware, and extra linens is always a smart idea. Next, pack decorations and out-of-season clothing. Then move to kitchen items, electronics, and bathroom supplies, leaving essentials for last. Finally, pack a "first-night" box with must-haves like toiletries, clothes, and essential documents.
