"Hired this place to install new plumbing lines, install toilets, showers, etc & install a water softener during a remodel. They flooded the house TWICE due to botched work by MT city plumbing. The first time was because they didn’t hook up the softener right and that caused our basement to flood. 3 weeks later, our upstairs flooded and the basement AGAIN. This was due to incorrectly installing a water line to a toilet. When we brought the first flood to their attention and asked for insurance info to file a claim, they accused us of trying to benefit from them? Wow really? We had thousands of dollars worth of personal items destroyed and all the flooring and drywall we had just finished installing had to be torn up. Then, to have it flood again 3 weeks later is not okay. This “business” is NEVER a place I would recommend to anyone. Would give ZERO stars if I could."

When your HVAC technician mentions recharging your home AC unit, they’re referring to the process of topping off the unit with refrigerant, so the levels are properly maintained and pressurized. Normally, a properly functioning AC unit doesn’t need additional refrigerant, but AC units can develop leaks or other problems that decrease the amount of refrigerant needed.

If your contractor is bidding on those items or others you don’t need or want, ask them for a quote on only the equipment and services you need.

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. When first installed, flex ducts shouldn’t cause airflow problems in your home. However, because flex ducts aren’t the sturdiest and require extra support, they lose their durability over time and begin to sag, which can inhibit airflow down the road. Also, if your flex ducts aren’t tight enough, your HVAC could work twice as hard for the same air pressure. If you’re worried about the airflow in your home, a rigid duct may be your best bet.

If you run an AC with a dirty filter, it could allow dust and dirt to build up in your ductwork, which could make you sick. At the same time, your air conditioner won’t work as efficiently as it would with a clean filter, likely resulting in less airflow, more wear and tear on your HVAC system, and higher energy bills.
