"Excellent experience. Otis is very professional and even showed up the same day I called him to get an idea of the project. He and his crew worked with, and improved, a design idea I had come up with to work with the irregular shape of our pool patio. He provided a prompt and reasonable quote. Once they were able to start, they worked very quickly and did an excellent cleanup job as well. We couldn’t be happier with our deck. Highly recommend them and I will definitely use them again."

Small jobs welcome

I am a mechanic at a nuclear power plant. I’m also pretty good at other things too. I’m here to make a little side money for my house that I am working on. Just contact me and tell me what you got and I’ll let you know if I can handle it or not.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Figuring out how to clear a green pool can seem tricky at first, but it’s all about knowing which pool cleaning chemicals to use. You may think of using baking soda to help you with your algae problem, but unfortunately, it won’t help. This is because baking soda only raises your pH and alkalinity levels.

Instead, you need to use pool shock to clear up a green pool—the shock raises the free chlorine levels and will kill the algae.

Certain pools serve as a middle ground between traditional swimming pools and hot tubs. The two main options are plunge pools and swim spas. A plunge pool (or cocktail pool) is smaller, but you can add spa-like elements such as heating and jets. A swim spa is more similar to a hot tub, but it produces a current that allows you to swim in place (similar to how a treadmill lets you run in place).

It depends. Your pool might need chlorine every day if the water is exposed to direct sunlight and you use your pool frequently. UV light and constant use will deplete chlorine levels more rapidly. Test your water regularly to see where your levels sit and adjust accordingly. Generally speaking, most homeowners need to add chlorine following a water chemical test about one to three times per week.

Sometimes, homeowners choose to install their pool on concrete, foam tiles, or patio pavers. Leveled dirt is also fine, as long as it’s not sod or grass. Regardless, you’ll need to install sand as a buffer to prevent your liner from tearing. Some pool installers also use a protective foam pool pad.

Yes, adding a pool to your property will almost always increase your homeowners insurance premiums. This is because pools are considered hazardous, which increases your home's liability risk. The replacement cost of the pool itself is also factored into your home's rebuilding cost when determining coverage limits. The amount of the increase can vary from as little as $50 to several hundred dollars more per year, depending on your insurance company, location, current coverage, and installed safety features. It is best to contact your insurance agent before installing a pool to get an estimate, understand their specific guidelines, and factor the ongoing cost into your budget.
