Super Service Award Winner for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019,2020.Hoffman Concrete LLC is a family owned and operated company serving the St. Louis and surrounding areas. We offer competitive pricing, unmatched customer service, and quality workmanship in residential and commercial concrete. From your driveway or decorative stamped patio to a commercial concrete parking lot or private subdivision street replacement. We also design and build outdoor living areas, such as: outdoor kitchens, outdoor bars, outdoor fireplaces, pizza ovens, fire pits with sitting walls, water features, stamped concrete bench and table sets that look like barn wood, we install brick and stone mailbox's, including tuckpointing. We build pavilions, pergolas, decks, covered patios, carports , and fences. We offer polymer modified cementitious overlays, hermetic flake floors, & reflector enhancer floors when tear out and replace is not a option. Our staff has the experience and all the right equipment to design, build, and complete any project on time and on budget. We are fully insured with general liability, and workman's comp insurance. Our reputation is as solid as concrete.
"In the beginning, Hoffman provided a fair, albeit not outstanding, bid. It was good that they responded to our request for a proposal when other concrete companies would not. The proposal was agreed upon in December of 2017 during the winter, so work was not expected until the spring. Once the project was started, there were several weather interruptions, which slowed the project down, but were acceptable given the circumstances. We had agreed upon a stamped concrete porch and sidewalk (Majestic Ashlar Stamp, Lanon Stone base, Smoke Release) with brick borders to match the brick on our house. The initial parts of the installation were fine ... in fact, good ... and we really liked the brick accents. Hoffman's brick person did an excellent job. The first problem occurred when the front steps were originally incorrectly measured. The 2 steps were very different in height, which would have posed a problem with people miscalculating their steps. Hoffman tore the steps down and rebuilt them, so we ended up with 3 steps all about 7 inches. Problem solved. The major problem, and the reason for the D rating, is that the stamping resulted in extremely noticeable imperfections (i.e., "pockmarks") in the finished walk. Hoffman claims that these were a normal part of the stamping process and that such irregularities are always possible. However, the nature of the imperfections are extreme, far from what can be expected normally. First, they are not systematic -- they occur at two distinct portions of the walk, forming a pattern which would not happen with normal imperfections. Second, in talking to other concrete experts, they quickly and independently identified the imperfections as a result of too aggressive smoothing of the edges of the concrete before the stamping was applied. In other words, a result of the work performed, not a natural characteristic of this stamp pattern. Repeated attempts to resolve this with Hoffman have been unsuccessful. Based on this, our original rating was a D. After several months, Mr. Hoffman arrived at our home to further discuss the issue. He apologized for the worked described above and explained the circumstances that led to his not responding to us in a timely manner in 2018. He has agreed to repair the work at no additional cost to us. We were impressed with Mr. Hoffman’s conscientiousness and have agreed to him re-doing the sidewalk. Given that, we have elevated our rating to a B."

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
Landscapers typically charge $50 to $80 per person per hour, which equals around $150 to $240 per hour for a three-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
Licensing requirements vary from state to state and by locality. It's always best to check with your local University Extension Service to find out which services require licensing.
If you want landscaping done but want to save some money on the overall fees, you can do a few things at every stage. Some ways to save money on your landscaping include:
Repurpose existing features and materials
Softscape instead of hardscape
Choose the more inexpensive materials
DIY when you can
Buy young plants instead of mature ones
Saving money on a landscape project starts by breaking the project up in segments or phases. Start with the site work, digging or adding soils. Then plant the larger "anchor" plantings. Then follow up with the smaller fill in shrubs or flowers. Lastly, add decorative items like boulders, rock mulch and low voltage landscape lighting. This way you can budget the project based on your time and money.
If you are an avid DIYer and have plenty of time to dedicate to your yard, doing your own landscaping (or at least some of it) can be an affordable option. Projects like planting a tree, planting grass, laying sod, or building a firepit can realistically be done without the need for a landscaping professional. However, these projects can take considerable time and some landscaping knowledge, so having a pro might save you in the long run.
Projects that are dangerous, like digging with heavy machinery or removing a tree, should always be done by a professional.
Yes, landscaping and lawn care can be done by anyone. Just like baking, anyone can do it, but are the results good and worth the effort? Hiring a professional makes sense when doing complex work such as drainage, treating insects and disease, and pruning trees over 20 feet tall, etc. Some of these things require special licensing, such as pruning large trees. Getting multiple estimates from well-regarded professionals can help you decide the best choices for a DIY project or hiring a professional.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
