Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. However, if you use the right techniques, regular mopping also sanitizes effectively—even if it takes more effort. Plus, you know you can use a regular mop on any flooring—including to clean laminate floors or hardwood, which don’t do well with steam cleaning.
