"Jeremy was very prompt, polite, thorough & conscientious. We had not had our ductwork cleaned in over 15 years so I called Heritage for a quote. When I called them, we set up a time for a free quote inspection & then we scheduled a date for the work to be done. Both times they Jeremy was very prompt & professional. I would hire Heritage again & highly recommend them."

"They ran the sweeper in the living and dining room. I asked to have the kitchen and bathroom deep cleaned. This included cleaning the stove and icebox. The bathroom was cleaned. It was rather a mess. They were unable to get to the stove or icebox. I paid extra $40 for that service. Hopefully, it will be completed next time. I did not have them dust or clean bedrooms. I was paid $160 for the 2 hours of service. They did collect trash and took my full can to the curb for pickup. They were friendly. Had all there supplies. I would recommend them."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It is not advisable to use salt on your roof to prevent or remove ice dams. It’s not only mostly ineffective but can also cause serious damage to your roof itself. Salt can rust metal, damage masonry, pit shingles, and cause runoff that’s damaging to plants and animals.

Inspections should be conducted annually, and minor repairs should be made as needed.

The average cost to clean a roof is around $500, but prices can fall between $150 to $1,000 or more. The size and complexity of your roof are the most significant cost factors, as larger roofs and those with various bump-outs and gables will increase your cost. Your roof material will also make a difference. An asphalt roof will require more labor, as your professional will need to be careful not to damage the shingles. A metal roof can stand up to more intense scrubbing and shouldn’t take as long to clean.

The best time of year for roof cleaning depends on your local climate, but generally, late spring, summer, or early autumn are ideal. Plan to clean your roof on a day with dry weather and moderate temperatures.

Late spring and early summer are excellent for cleaning off grime accumulated after a snowy winter or wet spring. Summer often provides the necessary dry conditions, though in very hot climates, late spring may be more comfortable. Alternatively, cleaning in late autumn can clear away debris like leaves and branches before winter.

Avoid cleaning your roof when it is cold enough for water to freeze, as this can cause dangerous ice buildup.

There are several telltale signs that your roof needs to be professionally cleaned. It's best to hire a professional as soon as you notice any indicators of wear to preserve your roof's longevity. Key signs to look for include:

  • Moss, Algae, or Plant Growth: Look for moss growth, black streaks (which are often a type of black algae), or any other plant life on your roof's surface.

  • Dirt and Grime Buildup: A general layer of dirt and grime can accumulate over time.

  • Leaf Buildup: An accumulation of leaves, especially in the gutters, is a clear sign.

  • Buildup Under Shingles: Dirt and debris can get trapped under the edges of your shingles.

  • Shifting Roof Shingles: While this can indicate other problems, it can also be a sign that cleaning and maintenance are overdue.

  • Comparison to Neighbors: If your roof appears significantly dirtier or different from your neighbors' roofs, that’s another sign it may be time for a cleaning.
