"I could not be happier with the final product! The first pic is the old bathroom from the 60s when the house was built. The rest are the final rebuild and it looks great. I would highly recommend VMK Remodeling for any project that you might have. I am also going to get a bid on redoing the deck on the back of the house as Vince's company does decks as well! Thanks to his great crew as well, great people to work with."

"The crew is proficient and very nice to work with. We did encounter several delays in scheduling, etc., but the quality of work accomplished was excellent. My really dirty, awful looking deck looked new when they were finished. My issue is with the work that wasn't finished. There is a fair sized section of siding on the back side of my house that was inadvertently missed (not stained). I emailed a couple of times to bring this to Mr. Schonert's attention and request they come back out and finish the job. He stated they would do so, but it has never happened. I feel I paid for work that was not completed, which taints an otherwise outstanding and very professional job. I would use this company again if they would make good on the completion of the job I have already paid for. "
"The porch and deck are beautiful and functioning exactly how they should. At our initial meeting, Keith was so obviously knowledgeable and gave reassuring answers to all questions and concerns. He made specific recommendations for the products used (different for porch and deck) and I think they're perfect. His attention to detail regarding structure--and all aspects--continually impressed me and gave me a lot of confidence in both his knowledge and skills. Every day I admire Keith's work and feel so much safer because of his redesign of the stairs and transition to deck."
"Scott did a great job on the white wash stain on our cabinets and power qashing and painting our deck. He is a very nice guy and works hard and aims to please his client."

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.
Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.
Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.
It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.
By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.
