Apart from the smell, health risks, and overall ick factor, poop isn’t good for your grass in its unprocessed form. Its high nitrogen levels mean it can burn or even kill your grass. Correctly composted dog poop, on the other hand, is a much safer, odor-free, and effective way to encourage green lawns and blooming borders.

The best time to apply fertilizer to your lawn is in early fall, though some climates necessitate a different schedule. After one day of soaking, sow the seeds in the soil. Never soak the seeds for more than one day (unless the specific variety calls for longer), as prolonged soaking could cause them to rot.
