Offers commercial services

Hello! My name is Alexander and I am lifelong builder and fixer with two decades of experience. Currently returning to university to add additional certifications to my portfolio. During my hiatus from commercial work I would love to offer my services to individuals in and around my community. Anything from landscaping and repairs, to remodels and updates, I love to do it all. Service and collective is very important to my outlook and purpose in life. I take pride in my work and believe everyone deserves fairness and opportunity for a more beautiful space in life. I would cherish the chance to be of service. Thank you for taking the time. Hope to hear from you soon!

"We had a small job - one antique desk armchair to reupholster. Mike was the only place that bothered to respond to our request. Mike brought over fabric samples and took the chair away with him. Not only did he do a great job of reupholstering, but he waxed the chair until it looked like new and replaced the pads I'd stuck on the feet with attached hardwood floor protectors. We highly recommend him!"

"The sofa was completed first and the chairs shortly afterward. We picked out fabrics and firmness if foams for cushions and she also made pillows for both the sofa and chairs. I was very satisfied with her work. Armani is very personable and professional. I would hire her again."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

It is possible to reupholster directly over old material in some cases, and it can save you a bit of money. If you are going to go this route, make sure you use a darker color than you had previously. Otherwise, you might see the old fabric beneath the new material. You should also keep in mind that reupholstering over old material is only possible with certain materials. For example, reupholstering over leather usually isn’t possible. You can ask your professional to see if this is an option for your piece.

Furniture made from materials resistant to sun fading includes metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and wrought iron, as well as certain synthetic materials like polyethylene (commonly used in outdoor wicker furniture) and resin-based products. Glass tables and accents are also sun resistant. These materials inherently withstand UV rays and are less prone to fading or discoloration. Furniture with UV-resistant coatings or finishes, such as powder-coated metal or UV-protected plastics, offers enhanced protection against sun-induced fading.

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

The average cost to reupholster a piece of furniture is around $720, with most projects falling in the $380 to $1,150 range. The final price can vary significantly based on several factors. These include the size and complexity of the furniture, the cost of the new fabric (which typically ranges from $50 to $70 per yard), and hourly labor rates (often $40 to $100 per hour). Additional factors that influence the price are the piece's current condition, its age, whether it needs other repairs, the number of pieces being reupholstered, and your geographic location.

If your usually super soft couch feels crusty and rough after cleaning, it could be that you haven’t removed the cleaning product properly, you used too much, or you applied the wrong type. Always check the couch tags to select the right cleaning product, read application instructions carefully, and test on an inconspicuous corner. For fabrics such as microfiber, you can soften and fluff crusty fibers using a soft-bristled brush.
