"Randy did a great job as the general contractor for the construction of our new church building in Archie, MO. Randy made sure the project was completed in a timely manner and the results were a beautiful and well-constructed building. We have had no issues and would hire Randy again in a second. Highly recommend."

"They were prompt, courteous, professional, respectful. Took care of a multitude of home projects -- ie wiring & added outlets, install garage walk in door, fixed leaks on porch roofs, replaced old skirting with new improved skirting, replaced broken bathroom sink with new vanity top, etc etc etc Would not hesitate to call them in again. In fact, I'm making a list of spring projects (spruce up kitchen counters, etc) and will definitely be hiring them if they have the time."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.

The most common slope, or roof pitch, for a shed is 4:12 or four inches of height for every horizontal foot. For areas that experience heavy snow loads, a steeper roof of 6:12 or 9:12 is best.

The foundation for a pole barn should be at least 36 inches thick to ensure that the piers won’t shift from frost heave.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

The steep slope of an A-frame roof withstands high winds, heavy rain, and heavy snowfall, making them popular all over the world. A-frames also offer simple, quick construction. Finally, an A-frame typically has large windows on the non-roof sides to let in a maximum amount of natural light. Consequently, they are often an affordable building solution for the right homeowner and location.
