"Our old windows did not stop the heat from the sun, but our replacement windows with argon gas from Window World do stop the heat from the sun. So happy we made the decision to get windows from Window World."

"Brad Broockerd did an excellent job of evaluating my needs for repairing my foundation and floor issues. • Scheduled promptly. • Showed up on time. • Called before arriving. • Excellent laser technology for measuring problems with leaning walls. • No guess work. • Detailed estimate with easy to understand drawing. • No charge for the estimate. I have had water leak problems for years with this house. Also mystery noises and cracks in walls. Doors and windows that work one day and not the next. I have made several extensive repairs myself for 25 years ago. So I understand thoroughly what is involved. Only recently did I realize the East wall was leaning in. Thank You For Your Expertise. Dan Hall – Bonner Springs. KS."

"Jim was very helpful and personable to work with.  I had recently moved to the Huntsville area and was unable to connect my wireless printer.   There were also some things going on with my laptop that made me suspect a virus had somehow gotten on to it, it was running more slowly than usual, and I wasn't happy with the Win7 configuration I had done when I bought the computer.  Jim came in and assessed the problems and we agreed on a time for him to take the laptop and reinstall the OS.  He was able to get the wireless connection to work as well.  He took the computer on a Friday evening and returned it Sunday evening in prime condition.
A few weeks later I  got an error message while reinstalling my accounting software so I called Jim.  He talked me through the problem over the phone and I was able to get the program installed so I could use the program.
Jim is great to work with, his pricing is very fair, he is prompt and reliable.  I will definitely use his services again.

"Frontpoint starts by interviewing you to determine what you need to best suit your security needs, the representative didn't sell me extra items and determined that window break sensors would be better than window opening for my house due to the amount of glass doors.  I received the delivery on time and the setup was really easy, it only took an hour to get everything installed.  Getting the system activated was also very straight forward and it works just as advertised and the phone App makes it easy to set when we aren't home.  The panel did lock up once after a power outage but the service representative walked me through removing the battery and resetting the system over the phone and it worked fine - they are definitely are well trained on the system and actually know what they are doing and aren't just reading from a manual.  Overall very impressed and I can see why they are so highly rated.

Windows questions, answered by experts

The key difference between a hung window and an awning window is that hung windows (including single-hung and double-hung versions) slide vertically to open and close. In contrast, awning windows have a hinge at the top and open outward at an angle. You can use both types of windows throughout your home, but awning windows are best suited for kitchens and bathrooms.

The cost of window replacement is about $290 per window on average, with a typical price range of $180 to $410. However, costs can be as low as $100 or as high as $780 or more. The total price depends on several factors, including the size, type, brand, and number of windows being replaced. The frame material and glass type also significantly impact the cost.

  • Frame Material Costs (per window):

  • Aluminum: $275

  • Vinyl: $550

  • Wood: $800

  • Composite: $900

  • Fiberglass: $1,250

  • Glass Type: Simple double-glazed windows are cheaper ($3 to $6 per sq. ft.) than stronger tempered glass ($12 to $14 per sq. ft.).

Yes, replacing windows can boost your home’s resale value by improving its curb appeal, energy efficiency, and comfort. The return on investment (ROI) varies depending on the types of windows you install, but most homeowners see an ROI of around 60% to 70% of the cost of the window installation, according to the Remodeling 2024 Cost vs. Value Report

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

Contrary to popular belief, wavy glass in older homes isn't caused by warping. The blowing technique used to create windows in homes dating back to the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s left behind small bubbles that create a wavy effect. If a glass window is functional, there's no need to consider wavy glass damaged. In fact, many homeowners prefer the old charm of wavy glass.
