"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."
"Brad Broockerd did an excellent job of evaluating my needs for repairing my foundation and floor issues. • Scheduled promptly. • Showed up on time. • Called before arriving. • Excellent laser technology for measuring problems with leaning walls. • No guess work. • Detailed estimate with easy to understand drawing. • No charge for the estimate. I have had water leak problems for years with this house. Also mystery noises and cracks in walls. Doors and windows that work one day and not the next. I have made several extensive repairs myself for 25 years ago. So I understand thoroughly what is involved. Only recently did I realize the East wall was leaning in. Thank You For Your Expertise. "Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."
"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."
This is a revised post. I contracted with Siding Repair Systems (headquartered in O’Fallon, MO) in June 2015 for the removal and replacement of the wood siding on my two story house with James Hardie Siding (8" Hardie Lap Color +). The estimate was for 2458 square feet of siding, 330 feet of soffit/fascia and 235 feet of 5" gutters and downspouts. Mr. Cory Feco, principal/owner, met with me to provide contract and cost details in late June 2015 prior to signing the contract. The installation window specified in the contract was a starting date NLT August 15 and a completion date NLT Sept 21. The contracted cost of the job was just under $ 26,000 and a $ 1,000 deposit was provided to get the job scheduled. The contract specified a payment of 20% upon material delivery, a payment of 30% at halfway completion and the balance upon satisfactory completion of the job.
Siding Repair Systems called on Friday, August 21 and said that a crew would show up to begin the work on Monday, August 24. The crew showed up on August 24. Branch Manager Paul Dickens reviewed the work plan with me that morning. The siding materials were delivered that afternoon. The crew immediately commenced removal of the old siding. Project Coordinator Cash Stricker showed up that afternoon to check in and see how the work was proceeding.
The crew was diligent in their work. They showed up promptly every morning, worked hard and kept the jobsite (my yard) relatively clean and organized. The attention showed by Branch Manager Paul Dickens and Project Coordinator Cash Stricker during the prosecution of the work was timely, appropriate and appreciated.
The only detract was that about a week after completion of the fascia/trim painting, I noted exposed (unpainted) wood on the soffit above my garage. I called Branch Manager Paul Dickens and left a voice mail about this issue. Mr. Dickens did not returned my call. I also mentioned this issue to Mr. Stricker and he said that he would get back to me. He never got back to me. This unpainted soffit issue remains unresolved. My take-away is to be sure that a thorough final inspection is performed and that all issues have been resolved before final payment is made. I would certainly use this company again but would delay final payment until all outstanding issues have been resolved.
"John did an excellent job. I mentioned that I was going to paint the flashing black but he suggested to wait a month and the flashing will look as though it was part of the original window and he was 100% correct. He called a few weeks later to inquire if everything was still OK"
The purpose of an awning window is to let fresh air into your home without taking up too much wall space. They’re ideal if you live somewhere that gets a lot of rain because their design helps prevent rain from coming into your home. In bathrooms, awning windows also help with ventilation but don’t compromise your privacy.
The gas between window panes, typically argon or krypton, acts as a barrier to heat transfer. This means it helps keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer by preventing heat from passing through the glass. This gas layer also reduces condensation by stabilizing the temperature across the window and helps minimize noise. Essentially, it’s all about improving energy efficiency and comfort while lowering those utility bills.
Casement window types differ from standard windows in that they have a hinge on the side or the top of the window so that it can open inwards or outwards. If your casement windows open upward, they usually have a crank to operate them. Casement windows with side hinges typically operate like a door, opening and closing without a crank.
It’s time to replace your windows if most or many are in poor shape. In that case, new fiberglass windows will increase the energy efficiency of your home and add to its overall visual appeal, inside and out. Replacing your windows also can allow you to find a style that better suits the character of your home.
Constant fixes can be expensive over time, and by replacing your windows, you can be at ease knowing you now have windows that function properly and make your home more energy-efficient.
Yes, triple-pane windows are more resistant to condensation. They help to reduce interior condensation that forms as a result of warmer temperatures inside your home than outside it. This makes them a good fit for cooler climates, particularly with newer, well-sealed homes that retain higher levels of moisture in the winter months.
