" My poor quality side chair, lacking any support in the seat, letting the entire center of the seat drop down when someone sat in it, came back with perfection to every detail, and the support structure he gave made this into a very different chair! Dedicated to his Craft, and reasonable in his prices! I heard of him through Next Door with a recommendation from another happy customer. I HIGHLY recommend him and his delight in pleasing each client! Has customers from outstate and other states who ship their items to him for repeat work. I will add a photo of my finished chair + roll pillow! PS And I agree with the others who have stated that he is very personable with dedication to having you be pleased with his work! Small jobs welcome

"Tate did an outstanding job rebuilding log deck/front porch structures which were too deep below grade and rotting. The project was one of a kind, requiring a good plan to cut logs and pour higher caisons while preventing front porch collapse. Tate came out and devised a strategy and quickly followed up with a good estimate. He made himself available quickly and started job within a few days. He provided pictures of progress and cleaned up and does very high quality work. Highly recommended!"

"The man I talked to was very professional and timely. However, he explained that this particular job was beyond the scope of what their company does. I would certainly use them on another 'issue'.

Woodworking FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.

Floor joists provide support and stability to the flooring installed above them, whether it be hardwood, tile, or carpet. They’re essentially horizontal beams that hold up the subfloor and everything that lies on top of it. Floor joists also help evenly distribute weight across their structure so that it’s shared between walls, beams, and your foundation.

It is not recommended to cut or drill into LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beams. As major structural components of a home, their composite structure can be compromised by alterations, which can weaken them and lead to cracking over time. If you must make modifications to an LVL beam, it is crucial to consult a structural engineer or general contractor first. A professional can advise on whether it's safe and provide specifics on the appropriate bit size, depth, and directionality for any necessary drilling.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.
