Jirik Sod Farm is located about 25 miles south of downtown Minneapolis/St. Paul, in Farmington, and has been serving the metro-area, and outstate with top quality turf since 1996. Jirik Sod Farm is Family owned and operated, and offers sod Delivery, sod Installation, retail sod, black dirt, seeding, and grading services. We have specialized in rehabbing many existing metro yards, along with new construction projects, remodels/additions, and supplying quality sod for the do-it-yourselfer or landscape contractor. Our customers range from municipalities and counties, to homebuilders, landscapers, contractors, developers, homeowners, and golf courses. Each project is given the individual attention it needs and deserves, and no job is too big or too small. Jirik Sod Farm has a knowledgeable staff which is there for you from your initial call, through your purchase, and also always available for follow-up, even years later. We differentiate ourselves by striving to excel in customer service, and exceeding expectations. Jirik Sod Farm is a grower of several types of turf grass products which include “highland” sod, MnDot “salt tolerant” sod, along with several fescue blends. We specialize in our “highland” sod, also referred to as “mineral” sod. Highland sod is grown on black dirt, or a common field soil, as opposed to the more available and common “peat” sod. Highland sod is a 100% Kentucky Bluegrass blend of four elite varieties, has a longer growing cycle, and develops a heartier deeper root structure. This, along with carefully managed fields, results in a top quality turf grass sod, which is deeper rooting, more wear resistant and performs better on the often challenging soils, and harsh conditions which today’s yards are subject to. Jirik Sod Farms accommodates pick-up and deliveries 6 days a week, and schedules installations with individual schedules in mind. We offer free on-site estimates for installations, so that accurate and reliable pricing can be obtained. Please contact us regarding any of your turf grass sod needs, from 1 roll for a patch to a complete yard removal and rehabilitation, or larger. We at Jirik Sod Farm look forward to discussing your sod needs, assisting you with your questions, and providing the expertise you need for a successful project. We accept major credit cards for your convienence.

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

When designing an attached greenhouse, several factors should be considered. These include the orientation and positioning of the greenhouse to maximize sunlight exposure, the structural integrity of the connection to the house, sufficient insulation to regulate temperature, proper ventilation for airflow, and adequate space for plants and pathways. If you’re restricted because of your budget, go with a simpler design to maximize the use of your money.

A solarium is built almost entirely out of glass, whereas a sunroom is built using other materials for the walls and ceiling, with some windows added to the walls and possibly a skylight in the ceiling. However, the sunroom uses significantly less glass compared to the solarium. The solarium may not hold heat as well as a sunroom when built in colder climates. A sunroom can use different materials for insulation, and heating and cooling systems can more easily supplement the energy gained from sunlight.

In most cases, you can attach a greenhouse to any type of house. However, certain factors need to be considered, such as the structural integrity of the house, available space, and local building regulations. You should consult with a professional contractor or architect to assess the feasibility and ensure proper construction methods.

Sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs support greener construction options.

Don’t forget to factor in the climate where you live during the planning stage. If your area is prone to bitter cold and heavy snow, you might want to invest in stronger greenhouse materials like a concrete slab, steel frame, and glass walls or plan to take your greenhouse down for the winter.
