South Side Electric, Inc.

South Side Electric Inc. is an easy company to work with and they provide good work. My husband called them in the morning and they were out within the hour.

Dispatch was very "up" and friendly. Repairman called, then arrived right on time. Very friendly but went right to work. Cleaned up when he was done.

South Side Electric provided a prompt and well prepared contract proposal and quote. I was able to get the job done within a few weeks after receiving the quote. The electricians checked with me to ensure proper location of new fixtures and outlets and reviewed installation options. They pointed out that one of the new fixtures with motion detector would not likely work as intended in one location due to being blocked by roof over entry way. They provided an alternative fixture that that worked very well. Some of the old exterior light fixture outlets were not up to code, which resulted in extra work to bring up to code. They were very good at making sure that everything was up to current code. The new posts for the new post lamps included exterior outlets that would not meet code, so they wired around them. This was good since the inspector immediately noticed these outlets and checked to make sure that they were not active. The electricians suggested several alternatives for various parts of the job, all of which turned out to have been better than the original plan. The inspector did not find any probems with any of the work. I was very happy with everything about this contract.

Late September, 2010, the electrical mast of the house broke and was hanging perpendicular to the house. We called South Side at about 9AM and they initially estimated that someone will be at our house by noon. In about 10 minutes they called back and said they can send someone over in 1/2 hour. Two people showed up in 1/2 hour, took care of the problem, called Xcel Energy, waited for them to show up, worked with them to have the alley wires and the neutral lines done correctly. Very knowledgeable, professional, punctual, and friendly.

They were courteous, prompt, and great with communication. Because we worked through a contractor we didn't need to set up any appointments or make too many direct calls but even still we could tell they were easy to work with. Harlan answered all of my many questions and gave us ideas on what kind of lighting would be appropriate. It turns out that the lighting plan was not sufficient and I should have asked more questions. They worked well in our older house whose electrical plan is a bit of a patchwork from years of DIY add-ons. The only glitch was something that happens often with contractors: we didn't actually see the details of their bid so were surprised to find that it didn't conform to our expectations. The prices ended up being more than we expected but that's how it goes! Over all we would use them again.

I am very pleased with this experience from beginning to end. They even added-in a couple of free fixes at no additional cost.

Excellent service from start to finish. Called and had Dave show up at 7 am. Moved with pace and purpose and understood exactly what I wanted to accomplish on my laundry list of things to do. He was personable, knowledgeable. I cleaned up after him so he could concentrate on the projects at hand. Would definitely use again. Cost $95 first 1/2 hour which includes travel time, balance $95 an hour. Reasonable for how quickly he completed each task. Had all the parts with him even though some of the items weren't on the original list of things to do!

I called at 7:15 in the morning and they arrived by 10:15 that same morning. Darryl was knowledgeable and very friendly and explained, in simple terms, my problem.

I have used them before. I knew them before I was on Angie’s List. My house is an old one. They did the re wiring right before I bought it. I called them because they could come the next day. This is probably the fourth or fifth time I am using the company. The guy who came this time was slow and talked a lot. However, it was not to the point that I had to file a complaint. He came and asked me a lot of questions when he could have just done the job. I don’t have any complaints against South Side because that was the first time I had any negative experience with them what so ever. As far as price is concerned, electricians are all the same. Their responsiveness is excellent. When I used them on previous occasions, I found them to be very professional. However, this guy did not do so well.

They guy was pleasant. He told me that the new piece needed a larger capacity than the vent tube in my ceiling could accommodate; he did not fix that part but he installed the new vent anyway.

They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional and personal. They listened to me when I told them how I wanted things done. They presented me with options. They were very good to work with and did excellent work.

The experience with this company was good. There were two workers and they were both very friendly. They were very patient and answered all of our questions. They sat down with us and gave us some ideas on how to solve some of the issues we were having. They were timely and I liked them.

Our dryer kept blowing fuses and after having it checked by an appliance repair service, it was determined that the fuse panel for the dryer was dangerously out of service. We called and asked this company for an estimate and they sent a representative within a few days of our call. The estimate came in below another company that we called for both jobs. We decided we needed the electrical update. The electrician came out within a week of our request. They did a very tidy, efficient job of the panel and with the replacement of the other sub box even though our basement is quite cluttered and messy.

I am very happy with the quality of the work they did. They got the work done very quickly & I would definitely use them again.

They did what they promised. I will continue to use them in the future and would recommend them to others.

I've had South Side do a few small jobs in the past, and have gotten "total upgrade" bids from them twice now. In the first case, I simply didn't have the money for the upgrade; in the second case, I wound up going with a cheaper bid. However, they will still be the first people I call the next time I need work done. I learned a lot from the bidding process about what I might want, what was possible, and what was legal. Very pleasant to deal with, and they don't seem to bear a grudge against me for only hiring them half the time.

He was very good. He finished the work in only an hour. He told me that he had an extra hour until his next appointment, so if there was anything else that I needed him to do, he would do it until he had to leave.

My new combination microwave oven and range hood kept tripping the circuit breaker it was on. I called to have Southside fix the problem. I also asked them to upgrade the electrical outlet in a bathroom to a GFI outlet. The representative arrived promptly (the day after I called) and assessed the microwave problem. Fixing the microwave issue required all new wiring and the installation of a separate circuit breaker. The work took longer than I expected because the fix was more complicated than I expected. Now I can use my microwave without wondering when I'll have to tromp down to the basement and flip the circuit breaker back! Changing the electrical outlet in the bathroom was quick job. All the work was done professionally. I had no cleanup to do!

We thought they were fine. We are going to move ahead with them. They people were very flexible, they showed up when they said they would and they delivered on what they promised.

They are very respectful about being inside my house. They are wonderfully responsive. I recommend them to anyone who needs electrical. I don't know if they're the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

They were quick, flexible, professional and they did a very good job. As a woman I felt that they treated me as an intelligent person and did not talk down to me when speaking about the wiring needs of our house. I would use them again.

Dave showed up right on time. He went through each thing I needed him to fix. He was super friendly and very thorough. I thought that the cost was very fair and reasonable. I would recommend them to others.
