"We played "telephone tag" for a few days which is normal when conducting business from far away, i.e., I was in Traverse City and Mark was on the other side of the state, but when we did finally connect in person I was so very glad I waited for Mark's services. He took a 23 year old treated deck that had never been cleaned and turned it in to something that looked almost new. My niece (the homeowner) was very happy. Mark brought the cleaning product and I did not have to worry about anything. (Other contractors did not offer the cleaning product.) It took three hours and twenty minutes to complete the job, but it had to be done!"

Small jobs welcome

"This company has completed several different projects for me on a home restoration. Fabian Guza has been amazing. On a bathroom project, he saved me thousands of dollars by suggesting I allow him to try and polish away hard water stains that I had tried everything to remove. He saved the tile and saved me money. The tile looks wonderful. The room he laid hardwood in matches the rest of the floors perfectly. The old hardwood floors that I thought could never look like new do! In addition to all of this, Fabian has explained things to me so I understandâ no mean feat. There are several other projects and each one I have been completely satisfied with the work performed"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Coping is the material that lines the perimeter of a pool and seals the transition between the top of the pool wall and the water. Decking surrounds the poolscape and extends far beyond the water's edge to provide a safe walking and lounging area. In short, coping is the border between the decking and the pool itself.

Rotting wood, loose railings, or unstable stairs may indicate a need for expertise.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

Composite decking might cost more upfront, but it delivers value in terms of durability. Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. The extra processes lead to a higher price tag, but you’ll save big in maintenance costs down the road.

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.
