Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"Jerry, the owner was quick to respond and very personable when I first contacted him for a quote to install a wood privacy fence, he sent one of his guys (Dan) out to measure the same day to give me an accurate quote. Dan was personable and we went over my options on where to install fence. Jerry the owner got back to me the same day with an accurate detailed quote and hired his company. Within a week my fence was being installed. The two men installing the fence were fantastic, Scott and Dan worked continuously all day and were mindful of my landscaping and making sure I was happy throughout the install of the fence. The professionalism and knowledge of the two were outstanding. I find myself looking for projects around my house so I can hire Jerry and his crew again. I completely and highly recommended this company for any project/job around your home. Outstanding company, owner and crew. Ten thumbs up. ð"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. A grade of at least six inches for every 10 feet works well. Do not leave a gap between the dirt and the home’s foundation where water could pool. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

Increases livable area and enhances aesthetic, often boosting property appeal.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.
