"Michael was very easy to work with and really listened to me. He was able to get me exactly what I wanted for a great price. He is a good problem solver and thinks outside of the box. He and his crew were able to install a beautiful vintage style pattered carpet in the upstairs of our 1850’s home and they did a great job working with the old floors. No buckeling and the seams are virtually invisible! Great people to work with and I highly recommend them - I plan to have them come back to install more carpet later!!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Decent carpet will last around 10 years on stairs. Some less durable carpets, like polyester, will only last five years on stairs. The ideal carpet, like wool or nylon, can last about 15 to 25 years. You’ll know when to replace it when it starts wearing down. You may have to replace it sooner if it's stained, whether due to water damage or pets.

Yes, professional installation services often include the removal and disposal of old flooring, which can include materials like carpet. This process may also involve preparing the subfloor for the new installation. It is recommended to confirm the full scope of the service with your provider.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.
