"Chris was our lead mover. He and his team were very professional and carefully moved all of our items into a pod. They took apart our furniture, unmounted tvs and wrapped art work. The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.

Bed frames are big, bulky, heavy items that are difficult to move. Moving an assembled bed frame isn’t a job for one person, and depending on the size, movers may struggle to fit it through door frames. It’s often easier to disassemble to frame, even when you have multiple professional people helping with the move.

Yes, it is generally possible to move a stair lift to another home, but the feasibility depends on the type of lift. Straight stair lifts are much simpler to move and can usually be reinstalled on other straight staircases with professional help. Curved stair lifts, however, are custom-built for a specific stairway. Because each rail is designed to fit the unique curves of the original staircase, it is unlikely to work in a new home. Moving a curved lift can be costly and challenging, and you may need to sell or remove the old unit and install a new one at your new location.

Start by removing any obstacles in the moving path, such as side tables, lamps, or other furniture. If your couch has legs, unscrew them. Measure the couch and the stairway to ensure you have enough room; if it seems unlikely, examine the shape and size of the couch and decide whether it might fit better up the stairway and through doorways on its side, held diagonally, or moved in an upright position.

Consider putting the sofa on a dolly to go up the stairs. It should be able to fit upright on a standard dolly with wheels. You’ll still need to lift the dolly—with the couch on it—up the stairs, but it will reduce the physical strain. The person holding the dolly should pull the couch up, while the helper should be on the other side, keeping the couch secure and steady.

If you don’t have a dolly, the person in front should lift the couch slightly higher than the person in the back to create more stability. The person in the back should also be the stronger mover, as most of the weight will be distributed there.

Surprisingly, no! For most house moves, you can keep everything inside as is, although we’d recommend taking out any sentimental or extremely fragile items. You’ll need to fully empty your basement or crawl space, but otherwise, your home can be moved with everything intact. Your movers will also be able to provide you with further guidance.
