"I had 2 bathroom floors replace. The company did a wonderful job. He arrived on time, cleaned everything up, was very polite and professional. The job was also finished in one day. The floors look great, so happy I had them done. I've had so many compliments, I would recommend D & L Flooring and More in a hear beat."

"I hired Refloor to come back and do my basement too. The installation was delayed due to stock shortage but the floors are in and they are beautiful. I hired my own painter to stain the moldings to match the floors. The floors look so much like real wood. Great job!"

"Workers were here 'sort of' on time. Job took a day or two longer than expected. New shower looks great. Shower floor is an issue. The floor is not solid, and takes some getting used to. Overall, we are happy with the new shower, but the floor needs to be addressed along with a chip in the floor ceramic tile, caused by workers."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

For Flint homes, luxury vinyl plank and porcelain tile are top choices for basements and bathrooms due to their moisture resistance. Engineered hardwood is ideal for living rooms, offering durability against Michigan’s climate changes. Slip-resistant tile works well in entryways. Always use underlayment with moisture barriers and consider thermal-rated flooring materials to help maintain comfort and protect against Flint’s seasonal temperature shifts.

Helpful?

In Flint, basements often require flooring updates due to moisture issues from Michigan’s weather and older home foundations. Kitchens and bathrooms in historic Flint neighborhoods are prone to wear from humidity and daily use. Entryways and mudrooms face heavy traffic, especially during snowy winters, leading to faster deterioration. Original hardwood floors in living areas may need refinishing to preserve their character and value.

Helpful?

Upgrading flooring in Flint homes enhances insulation, making interiors more comfortable during cold winters. Installing new flooring materials can reduce allergens and improve indoor air quality, especially in older homes. Moisture-resistant flooring helps prevent mold in basements, while slip-resistant surfaces in entryways increase safety. Modern flooring installation in Flint MI also makes cleaning easier after snowy or muddy days.

Helpful?

Flint homeowners should keep a dehumidifier to manage basement moisture, a high-quality floor squeegee for wet entryways, and a microfiber mop for hardwood or laminate. A vacuum with a HEPA filter is ideal for older homes near industrial areas. Grout sealer, wood filler, and moisture barrier tape are useful for ongoing maintenance, especially in homes with original flooring or frequent temperature swings.

Helpful?

When hiring flooring professionals in Flint, ensure they have experience with local housing styles and understand common issues like basement moisture and uneven subfloors. It’s important they are familiar with flooring installation Flint MI regulations, especially for older homes that may have lead paint. Ask about their approach to moisture barriers, warranties, and references from similar Flint properties for peace of mind.
