"We have hired Woodbrook Painting several times over the last seven years. Our most recent project was painting our kitchen cabinets, we are delighted with the outcome. Our 25 year old cabinets look like brand new and like they just came in from the factory. Keith, Ryan and the crew were professionals from beginning to end and got the job done on time, within budget and with minimal disruption to our routine. We will be hiring Woodbrook again soon."

"I received two identical offers of $1200 for removing 1150 sqft of wallpaper and went with All Aspects.
John was very responsive, punctual and communication was superb.  Group of 4 people spent 9-10 hours each doing the job.  John told that the job was more difficult than average and more difficult than he anticipated.

I was very pleased with the speed, professionalism, communication, and was going to give grade of A.  However, two painters that later gave me painting estimates, claimed that the damage to the drywall, due to wallpaper removal is much above average (big portion of paper removed and some significant number of dents and scars).  Each of these two painters told me that this will translate into significant amount of extra skimming (8-11 hours) to patch the uneven drywall, compared to regular painting.
I am not in a position to judge whether John did superb job given how difficult it was to remove the wallpaper (that would be am A), or he did very poor job, creating excessive damage to drywall (that would be a C).  Therefore, I am ranking the job as B.

"Jeff's team painted the interior of my home. Jeff is extremely professional, very responsive in his communication, and follows-thru as promised. Throughout the entire process, he ensured I was comfortable with the work that was being done and was happy with the finished product. I'd recommend JAM Home Services and would certainly use them for projects in the future."

"Sonny and his team did a great job. Job was for all wood trim on a brick home & garage and small shed. It consisted of power washing, scraping and a coat of primer & a finish coat. Will definitely use again and recommend Advanced Painting."

"-- MHI Painting did a great job with my project from estimate to completion. Mike was willing to explain what he wanted to do and why he wanted to do it. I’m not a DIY person, so hearing his explanations helped me understand his proposal. -- The job consisted of repainting kitchen and family room in the same colors which I really liked but were old and needed freshening. Billy took switch plate covers to the paint supplier to get a match. It also included painting new wood trim around a recently replaced patio door. The workspaces painted included tray and coved ceilings. -- Billy’s team did an excellent job of painting and clean-up and showed respect for my property. -- This is the second time I have used MHI and they have now done both exterior and interior work for me. I was highly satisfied with both experiences. -- I have and will continue to recommend MHI to my friends."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

Wallpaper in bathrooms can last anywhere from one to 10 years, depending on what type was used, how well it was installed, and the measures in place to reduce moisture and humidity levels. Opting for a more durable variety and taking all the necessary protective measures will get you closer to that longer lifespan.

To layer wallpaper over wallpaper, inspect your existing wallpaper for problem areas. Damaged wallpaper should not be covered. If it’s okay to proceed, prep by turning off the electricity and removing any outlet and switch covers. Dust your walls and lightly rinse them to prevent the existing paper from peeling. Apply primer, then apply your new wallpaper.

Ideally, you want to ask the wallpaper installers you’re considering for examples of past work, and references you can call. These will prove that the installer can handle your job, make your room look professional, and will also give you some insight into the kind of customer service you can expect. Before you start calling companies, you might want to narrow down your options by finding installers with mostly positive reviews online.
