"Joseph Schei of Advanced Flooring Design gave us a very fair price for the installation of oak hardwood flooring in our home. He also installed vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen and bathroom. All floors were done at the same time and it took him approximately 12 days which included removal of old floors, moving of all furniture and appliances, and installation of new floors. Joseph is very knowledgeable and professional and we were very thankful for all the great advice he gave us along the way. This was a big job, and he made it happen! We love our new floors and we know we will love having them for many, many years to come. Thank you, Joseph, for all of your hard work, integrity, and all around great character! We have enjoyed working with you and getting to know you. We can't recommend you enough! A+ and 5 Stars from us!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Jeff is very professional, showed up and gave a very fair quote, also showed up on the day to start the job on time. Very reliable. He has a great crew that works for him and they are very respectful too .Jeff was very accommodating to our needs and also asked if we needed extra work done to help with some remodelling issues. I had added more jobs to the list and Jeff was agreeable to fixing things. My small bathroom needed a small remodel as well and i trusted him to pick out lights, cabinets sink and fixtures and he matched things wonderfully to my new floor. He is very knowledgeable and informed me on the best paint to buy. He reworked some electrical issue we had in this old house. His billing is itemized so you know exactly what services he did and what you are paying for, so there are no issues with billing. Also we have booked him for other projects around the house. We explained what we need and Jeff can do it all. I call him my own handyman and will not go through anyone else now. This man is the REAL DEAL. Fair, honest, QUALITY workmanship. THINGS are done PROPERLY. I would Highly recommend Jeff to help with any home projects you need."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Avoid placing carpet in the bathroom or the kitchen. After all, moisture is no friend to carpeting. Beyond that, it’s down to personal preference. Some people dislike when a garage or basement features carpet, but others enjoy it.

Pergo flooring is waterproof, right down to the bevels. The company claims that the material has a 100% watertight surface. Of course, this depends on how expertly the flooring was installed, so make sure to do some research before choosing an installation pro.

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

Bamboo flooring has several disadvantages to consider. It is highly susceptible to moisture and humidity due to its absorbent nature, which can cause it to warp, buckle, swell, expand, or contract, potentially creating gaps in the floor. For this reason, it is best suited for dry climates. Bamboo can also scratch and dent easily. Aesthetically, it offers fewer color and style options compared to wood, laminate, or vinyl flooring, which can be a limitation for some homeowners. Additionally, bamboo flooring may discolor over time, especially in high-traffic areas.
