Very detail oriented, work performed to a very high standard, work done to a finish level that rises to craftsman. I was actively monitoring quality and attention to detail - and pleasantly surprised each time. Also very respectful of our home and our property. Cory even changed the order of work over the 3-4 weeks in order to not disturb a mother chickadee who had built her nest behind one of the stucco panels. Clean- up over the multi week job was frequent and thorough. They were both great guys and I would recommend them and their work unconditionally. Would hire them again without reservation. The best way to assess that your stucco needs repair is to inspect it, both visually and physically. If you notice cracks, chips, or staining, that’s a good indication that your stucco could use some TLC by a professional. Additionally, if you touch an area that feels soft and has a little “give,” you should consider repairing it as soon as possible to avoid further damage, both to additional stucco spots and to your home’s structure.
Stucco will dry in two to three days, but you should wait one to two months to allow it to cure fully before you paint it. The curing process is slow, but leaving the material exposed to air and natural moisture will help it reach its maximum strength. If you live in a hot, arid climate, wait a month before painting. Wait two months before painting if you live in a more moderate or wet climate.
To repair damaged exterior stucco, you’ll first remove all loose and crumbling material from the damaged area. You then need to thoroughly clean the area and dampen it to ensure proper bonding. After that, you’ll apply a bonding agent to the repair area, then apply new stucco in layers, allowing for curing time between each layer. The final coat should be textured to match the surrounding stucco pattern as closely as possible. Once fully cured, the repaired area can be painted to match the rest of the wall if needed.
Masonry screws are the best option to be used on stucco. They’re thicker and made to penetrate harder surfaces like concrete and cinder blocks. Fluted masonry screws work the best because they create a stronger grasp thanks to the lines on their shafts. If you’re working on exterior stucco, use galvanized screws to prevent corrosion.
