"On time as scheduled, did a great job cleaning carpets at a good price. I pointed out stained areas and other areas I was concerned about. All carpets look and smell great and he was able to remove all the stains. I will definitely hire him again when the carpets need cleaning."

"Actually I was a little nervous about using Johnson's, but once I talked to Mr Johnson and he reassured me of his work, I decided to give him a try and I am glad I did. He did a very good job on my sofa and love seat. The color is a off white and I had never had it cleaned before. By the time he had finished, it looked like new again. I am very pleased with his worked. Thank you very much for recommending him to me."

"They did not clean many things I told them to do. I think they should make a list of what the customer wants and make sure those things get done. The TV and the window seals were not dusted at all and I SPECIFICALLY asked them to do that, there were a few other things I asked to be done that were not completed. I did not mind paying the agreed too amount but I would have liked to have the work done that I was paying for."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Different rug cleaning companies may prefer different methods of cleaning for area rugs, but many prefer to steam-clean rugs and carpeting. Steam cleaning avoids using detergents and cleaners that can be sticky or contain harsh chemicals. Shampooing a rug requires using brushes to agitate and remove the cleaning agent from the carpet, possibly subjecting the carpet fibers to unnecessary wear and tear.

You should aim to have your floors professionally deep cleaned once or twice per year. A deep clean service can remove set-in stains, clean grout between tiles, address water spots or discoloration on wood floors, and make your floors look new again. For households with children, pets, or severe allergies, consider increasing the frequency to four times per year (quarterly). It's also important to perform regular cleaning, such as vacuuming and mopping, in between professional services.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Steam cleaning is generally considered better than shampooing for deep cleaning carpets. Also known as hot water extraction, steam cleaning uses heat to penetrate deep into the carpet fibers, effectively removing dirt, allergens, and bacteria without leaving behind a sticky residue. This method also tends to cause less wear on your carpet over time and leaves the fibers feeling softer. While a steamer can be more expensive, the cost is often justified by the longevity of your carpet. Shampooing may be a suitable option for quickly fixing odors or cleaning minor surface stains. However, it can leave behind a soapy film that attracts more dirt, defeating the purpose of the cleaning. The best choice depends on your needs; for a thorough, deep clean, steam is the superior option, while shampooing can handle light, surface-level dirt.

Yes, vinegar is a popular DIY carpet stain remover that can get ink out of carpeting. Try saturating the ink stain with undiluted vinegar and blotting it until the stain is lifted. If this doesn’t work, try rubbing alcohol as a plan B.
