"Absolutely wonderful! These guys had quite a job on our investment property and handled it like pros! They cleared an entire backyard that was 10 years overgrown, trimmed trees, removed stumps eliminated poison oak and bees, power washed the house and the deck. They worked really hard - one day they worked over 12 hours! It's hard to find good service where they actually show up and on time or early. Super friendly and worked with a smile on their face :) I cannot thank them enough for the great job. Four neighbors came over boasting about how hard they worked. I would highly recommend them and use their service again if needed. Great job!"

"We are VERY PLEASED with Hamby Empire services! They arrived ON TIME. They phoned in the morning, and were here in the afternoon at the time as promised! They were efficient, helpful, fast, respectful of property AND FRIENDLY!! They arrived with an empty trailer and an empty truckbed and gave us an estimate on the spot and then got to work. All around - a good experience. Thank You! Well Done! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HAMBY EMPIRE."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Yes—in fact, it’s an important step in how to start a snow blower. Allowing the engine to idle for a few minutes prior to using a snow blower helps it reach its optimal operating temperature, which gets the fuel running properly, improves its performance, and helps prevent stalling during frigid weather.

Time varies based on the property size and snow depth, but most jobs take 1-3 hours.

Snow can be too heavy for a snow blower and cause clogs in the chute. However, having the correct type of blower for the snow conditions can reduce the chances of it being too heavy for it to handle. Another trick for preventing clogs is to make multiple passes while it snows rather than waiting for it to finish snowing.

Generally, the cost of ice dam removal is not covered by homeowners insurance because it is often considered preventable maintenance. However, the damage caused by ice dams is frequently covered. Depending on your policy, this can include interior water damage, roof collapses, and damage to shingles. Coverage for personal belongings affected by leaks may vary. It is important to check your policy details or contact your insurer to confirm what your plan covers. Keep in mind that any damage resulting from a DIY attempt to remove an ice dam will likely not be covered.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.
