"I was in need of emergency ( fastest appointment possible) electrical upgrade of fuse box. It was winter and my water pipes were also in danger without my furnace functioning along with too cold to be inside my home. Time was of the essence and literally costing me $ by the day. Brian ( the professional handling my service) arrived in 2 days while all the other companies I contacted could not provide service for 6 weeks. He was professional, proficient, knowledgeable, and such a relief that my problems were solved and in working order in just 3 hours time starting with inspection of service needed, collecting all materials need for service, and service itself. Saving me alot of money daily to preserve my home from damage and daily living arrangements. I would absolutely hire again! Thank you I appreciate you! Elizabeth Roberts"

I have been in business since 1997 as a remodeler and general contractor. In 2015 I relaunched my business as a quality handyman service, serving a small area of Kalamazoo. I work by myself. I know many professionals in the building trades, and can make referrals based on need. I don't engage in competitive bidding for the following reasons: - Most of my jobs are either billed at an hourly rate, or are too small to be worth the time that bidding requires. - Winning bidders are usually (not always) the lowest price. Lowest price often (not always) means less-than highest quality. - I charge a fair price for my work, and I provide a quality service for that price. I have no interest in undermining either of these things. Homeowners only, please. Bronson and Winchell areas (almost) exclusively. This cuts down on my driving time, thereby improving efficiency. The client relationships that I have now are based on mutual respect and trust. I desire to develope only mutually-beneficial and long-lasting relationships with all of my clientelle, present and future.

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Yes, sanding cabinets before you stain them helps the new stain better adhere to the surface. If you’re adding a darker stain to previously stained wood, you only have to sand them lightly enough to remove any finish and rough up the wood to improve adhesion. On the other hand, if you’re trying to stain wood that is a darker color or that has paint on it, you need to sand down to the original wood, or the color will show through the new stain.

Removing kitchen cabinets can vary in difficulty depending on factors like experience, the cabinet's installation method, and any obstacles or complexities involved. Generally, it's a moderately difficult task that requires basic carpentry skills and tools and, ideally, a helper to support the weight of the cabinets during removal. Disconnecting utilities beforehand can complicate the project, and it’s best to hire a pro if you’re not confident in your skills.

While there is no standard size for a medicine cabinet, they can range in size from 15 inches to 24 inches wide and are typically between 20 and 22 inches tall. There are plenty of medicine cabinet types that fall outside these parameters though, so it’s a good idea to measure your space before you go searching for the perfect cabinet.

Cover appliances, clean surfaces regularly, and winterize plumbing before freezing temperatures.

Before making any big plans, climb up a step ladder and closely examine the top of your cabinets. You’ll get to see what sort of clean-up work needs to be done, but you can also check for any unexpected obstacles. Sometimes this space holds electrical boxes, wiring, or even plumbing components. Those will affect plans to install a new layer of cabinets or shelves.
