"A new roof is a large purchase, and I had a short timeline I was working with to accomplish getting my roof replaced due to recent life events. Gene made this process easy. He listened to all my concerns and expectations respectfully and was willing to work with my timeline. It was clear to see he took pride in his company in their products and he educated me on the items I had to make choices about without putting any pressure on me. He communicated with me several times before the actual roof day about color samples, extra ventialtion I had requested, the chimney stack challenge he took on, and any other questions I had. When it was roof day, Gene was present with his team before the sun came up. Storm Masters did everything I asked for, including removal of a dormant wasp nest in the garage vent! I cannot express how pleased I am with my new roof. I could tell an immediate difference with the new insulation as well. My house was warmer and my furnace ran less. The crew cleaned up everything upon completion. They were polite and genuinely interested if I was pleased with the outcome.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

Typically 1-2 hours, factoring in ductwork and electrical connections.

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

No, you can’t install just any microwave over your range. You have to get a specific type of microwave known as an over-the-range unit. These include venting and lighting features that you’ll need above your stovetop.

Although countertop units are more affordable, they won’t work for this type of installation. To avoid hazardous conditions in your kitchen, buy the right type of microwave for your needs.
