Small jobs welcome

"Brian replaced 2 of my windows that had broken seals. He replaced the missing shower doors that the previous owner had removed. I had already purchased the doors at Home Depot but the person helping me gave me the wrong size. Brian loaded up the wrong doors and went with me to get ones that would fit. Technically, they should have been specialty doors because my shower isnâ t square like it should be. Youâ d never know it because Brianâ s work is impeccable. Brian is honest and conscientious. He goes above and beyond and is reasonably priced. He cleaned up after himself, which many contractors donâ t do. He does great work. If youâ re looking for someone that will do his very best for you then chose Brian with Beckwith Glass. I wish that I could give him more than5â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸"

"We hired Brian to fix our leaky windows. We weren't sure it could even be done. But he improvised something using weatherstripping, and our home is nice and warm now as the wind howls outside at 20 degrees. He worked quickly and kept us informed every step of the way. We are extremely pleased."

"We had the wonderful experience of having Capital Construction reside our home with Hardie Board in March. The old wood siding had not been kept up and we knew we would need to address it soon, however, we were intimidated by the scale and unknown of the project. The Capital Construction team was informative, not pushy and shared the same passion for our vision for our home. Our project manager, Jay, was personable, communicative with us, and was transparent about possible things that could emerge with the lack of upkeep, so we felt informed in making decisions throughout the process. Eddie and his crew were beyond friendly and impressed us daily with their work ethic. I left for work the morning they started and returned to have find them already having removed all of the old siding in one day. We were informed the project could take 2-3 weeks and they managed to complete it in 6 work days, which blew us away. Eddie also worked with us in developing a custom hay door as part of our vision. We continue to see people slow down and look at the home even months later and we often get compliments from our neighbors. The best feedback came from our next door neighbor who grew up in the home when he walked over and mentioned "I never imagined it could be so beautiful". The pictures speak for themselves. Thank you Capital Construction for helping make the home of our dreams."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

A garage door screen can be a worthwhile investment, especially if you frequently use your garage for activities like a home gym, workshop, or other hobbies. It allows you to enjoy fresh air and natural light without worrying about bugs. Additionally, a screen provides ventilation that can improve air quality when you're working with paints, varnishes, or producing sawdust.

The best option depends on your usage. For occasional use, a DIY fabric screen is a low-cost, simple solution that you can put up and take down as needed. If you plan to spend a lot of time in the space, investing in a customized, professionally installed garage door screen can help transform the area into a new hub for your household.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.
