"This guy is great, and I would highly recommend his work due to his professionalism, quality of work, and pricing! 1. I liked that when we first spoke, he set great expectations on the phone. 2. Showed up on time for the estimate, communicated well throughout the process. 3. His price was not the cheapest, but I want quality work and it was worth every penny! Hire this guy, you wonâ t be disappointed."

"Hired a new laminate floor put down in second bedroom. Had him paint kitchen walls and wood work, lot of patching done to walls before he could paint them, also had laundry room painted. Had him install new butcher block counter top in kitchen."

"Hired these guys to build a long half wall built out onto a concrete floor in order to mount some electrical equipment. Zack was very knowledgeable, and gave me a couple options for what I wanted to achieve. He also helped me build the wall in such a way that allowed easy access for the electricians coming in behind him, which helped save time and cost later down the line. Quote was very reasonable, and the install was done quickly and efficiently, with a high level of attention to detail. I was very satisfied and have recommended them to others who ended up having a similar experience. High level of professionalism and very respectful, honest folks. look forward to having them involved in my next big project."

"We had a higher than expectation experience with Coastline Construction. John the owner was great to work with. He has an awesome work ethic and is a protectionist. We wish we had found him at the beginning of our project. We started with another contractor and didn't have a good experience. John came in and made everything right. We most definitely will use John again and let anyone who needs a professional contractor to call him."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Removing a load-bearing wall affects the structural integrity of your home, so you’ll need a permit before starting the work. Building codes vary by municipality, and obtaining a permit and having the work inspected after completion will ensure you’re in compliance with all applicable regulations.
