"My 25 year old deck needed to be leveled and repaired. Heath Enterprises returned all my calls quickly and came out to give me an estimate soon after I called. They finished the job in a few hours, came out under the estimate and did a few extra things. The deck is level and the stairs are repaired. Great Job! I will definitely hire them again and will recommend them to my friends."

"We are very pleased with the outcome of our project. Despite running into issues with the original construction, Brent did not cut corners. He made needed repairs before continuing while staying within our budget. In addition to replacing old and damaged popcorn ceilings in a very large living room, kitchen, mudroom and central hall entryway, he painted each without leaving a drop of paint anywhere! He and his crew were always polite, respectful, and professional in detailing what was being done. It was a messy project, but at the end of each day, they did a thorough clean-up. We are very satisfied with his work, love the new look and needed up-dates. We would hire him again for future projects."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use paint if you want to refresh your tile countertops. However, you must be mindful of the type of paint you use. Look for options explicitly created for tile that are also waterproof and durable. Over time, the paint will chip, so this is not considered a long-term solution for busy kitchens.

Learning how to clean different types of countertops can help them look new for longer. Use a gentle cleaner on recycled glass countertops to avoid damaging the binding agent. Avoid harsh or abrasive chemical cleaners, which can damage the surface and shorten its lifespan. It’s also best to keep acidic cleaners away from countertops that use a concrete binding agent, as they can stain the surface, leaving it looking dirty and drab.

No, you shouldn’t put hot pans on solid surface countertops because they’re only heat-resistant up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Play it safe and use trivits to prevent damage.

Corian® is a popular countertop alternative to quartz. Created from an acrylic resin and natural minerals, Corian® resembles quartz and offers some similar benefits, but it comes at a cheaper price. Corian® countertops cost an average of $26 to $65 per square foot, which is less than half of what quartz countertops usually cost. The downside is that Corian® isn’t as durable as quartz, particularly regarding its resistance to scratches and high temperatures.

Avoid using harsh, gritty, or abrasive cleaners and sponges on Formica countertops. This includes steel wool, scouring pads, and strongly alkaline or acidic cleaning products like chlorine bleach, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, furniture polish, or vinegar. These can compromise the surface, leading to scuffs, discoloration, and other damage that will reduce the countertop's longevity. Additionally, never place hot items, such as pots and pans directly from the oven or stovetop, onto the laminate surface, as the high heat can cause it to scorch.
