Small jobs welcome

"I can’t recommend Maniacs Carpet Cleaning and Water Extraction enough!! They came in and did such a fantastic job on my carpets!! They were very responsive, professional, and made sure everything looked better than when they showed up. Having three dogs I never thought they would get clean again and now they look as good as the day we had them installed!!!"

"This is the second time I have had Kieth to clean my carpets, as before, he was prompt and very professional and very effective! Had some horrid stains for him to contend with. He is also, I think, very reasonably priced. I have recommended him to several people already and will definitely use him again."

"Right off the back, I knew I was going to be in for a good experience. Only a few hours after I inquired into NE Renovations through Angie, I received a phone call to schedule a site visit. Initially, I was only doing some basic improvements. Just paint the walls, replace carpet and replace the linoleum floors with tile. After all, it's a rental. You don't want to go crazy, right? Once I talked to Richard and negotiated the different options for the job, I was blown away at the cost delta between his company and other vendors. Blown away to the point I decided to upgrade first floor to hardwoods. To be honest, I was skeptical at first. Once I received the contract with the same cost proposal as the quick quote, I was put at ease.

The work started promptly per the contract. During the negotiations, I discussed with Richard that I was under the gun because I had a renter that was ready to move in sooner than what I had advertised the place. He didn't make any promises (as hard as I tried to make him commit). But in the end he came through ahead of schedule. There was no skimping on workmanship to improve the schedule. The only negative I have was certain team members cleaning up the work area. But once I brought it to Richards attention, it was rectified immediately. I was actually out of town the day job completed. Once I returned, I went see the finished product. Overall, it was a great job. There were a few touch up things I had a concern about. Richard and the team took care of it promptly with no issue. No additional fee or anything like that. Just making sure the job is completed to the customer's satisfaction. That's the kind of customer service you want.

I'm excited about NE Renovations. After working with Richard and the team, how can you not be. Their infectious personalities, can do/will do attitude and regards for complete customer satisfaction is what makes this company great. I'm looking forward to working with Richard again in the near future. My kitchen in my new house is a wreck. Let's go NE Renovations!!!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

Several types of flooring can be installed over existing tile, provided the current tiles are in good condition. Options include vinyl, vinyl plank, laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, carpet, and cork. Among these, various types of vinyl and engineered wood are the most common choices due to their versatility. Alternatively, you can install new tiles on top of your current ones if you like tile floors but want to update the look. Before proceeding with any new flooring, it's crucial to ensure your existing tiles are not damaged; otherwise, they will need to be removed first.

It is normal to glue carpet down, though it’s not the only or the most popular method of installing carpet. Modern techniques include tack strips and stretching the carpet, but you might still find glued carpet in older homes or a home with a DIY’d past. Removing a glued-down carpet will be harder compared to other methods of installation.

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.
