"Bart Flanagan made an appointment and met me to view the tree I needed taken down. His office provided a quote and a date was set. The team arrived, dropped the tree, chipped it and were done within a half hour. Friendly, courteous and very efficient! If I ever need tree service again, I will contact Bart Flanagan,"

"We determined there was an underlying wall problem that needed to be resolved before the ultimate roof was could be done. Mark (Roof Masters) hooked me up with a Structural Engineer to do the design work. The Engineer and Roof Masters quoted 2 weeks each. Once Mark got the design, his two week job was done in 4 days! He was flexible with dealing with unforeseen problems. Do once it came to the subcontractor to finish the inside work, Mark did the roof I. One day! I had to leave town and he kept me informed on the job status and sent pictures. The house looks great inside and out."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

While most people associate defrosting icy roads with salt, you can also use sugar for a similar result. Sugar lowers the freezing point of water, melting ice in a pinch.

However, sugar doesn’t melt ice as well as salt because it doesn’t separate the water molecules as efficiently. So, if you need to quickly melt a stubborn patch of ice on your driveway or walkway, it’s best to use salt over sugar for faster results.

Schedule regular snow removal, apply salt or sand to icy areas, and mark hazards like curbs or drains.

The process to winterize your landscaping depends on the plants you have, but generally speaking, you should rake your lawn to avoid leaves from smothering your grass and leading to mold and fungi growth, wrap young trees to protect from fluctuating temperatures, and fertilize your lawn to provide some nutrients for the grass through the colder temperatures. You can also consider marking off small trees and shrubs to avoid accidentally damaging them with snow removal tools.

The best snow removal tools include a snowblower or a plastic shovel since they're less likely to damage your driveway's surface. Metal shovels can crack asphalt and concrete. It's also a good idea to install driveway markers since they can make it much easier for you to identify where you should shovel without damaging the surrounding yard.
