"Excellent group of guys, work was suburb, clean up was excellent. They arrived started right in and worked until they were done. We had 4 trees removed and we had them come on two different dates. They worked efficiently and safely. I would highly recommend them and would hire them again."

"Robbie is great, he did excellent work and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done perfectly in terms of timeliness, quality, and cleanup. He also had very reasonable pricing compared to two other tree services. He is courteous and conscientious, a great combination that is something every homeowner likes to see from someone they hire. He and Bob cleared 7 trees for us, they left small logs for us for firewood, cleaned up the entire yard and even the roof afterwards. They also filled in all ruts in the lawn that were unavoidable given the work performed. I really can't recommend his company enough!"

"My husband I (Judith), chose Jacob with Treewise for several reasons. He spent time with us giving us a free estimate. We looked into another company and the estimate was the same but they were going to use a bucket truck. Jacob climbed some very large trees on my property and cut off branches hanging over our roof. Its a 3-story house. His partner on the ground collected the trimmings and put them in the truck. The work was done very quietly. Jacob knows his trees! He thinned out an Ironwood tree and trimmed a white pine so that Hinoki False Cypress would get enough sun and he cut down a small oak tree. He was wonderful! A true arborist who knows his stuff. We will have him back again. A Big Thank you to Treewise and HomeAdvisor as we would not have found him without HA."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

An unsafe tree can cause serious damage to your home and property, so tree inspections are important to ensure your home isn’t in danger from a nearby tree. Unhealthy trees can also be unsafe trees, as diseases and insect damage can compromise a tree’s stability, leading to potential damage and safety risks.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.
