So, while cobblestone driveways have a high upfront price tag, you’re unlikely to need to replace it throughout your lifetime. Most heated driveways last from 15 to 20 years with regular inspection, maintenance, and prompt repairs. In other words, a heated driveway lasts about the same length of time as a regular concrete or asphalt driveway. However, your paving material does affect the longevity of your heated driveway. For example, concrete driveways may crack due to temperature discrepancies caused by a hydronic system, which can reduce your driveway’s life expectancy.

If you wish to break up a cracked or broken paver for removal, you can use a hammer or mallet and a chisel to fragment the paver. As you’re working, be careful not to disturb surrounding pavers; the key is to work slowly and steadily and remove the broken pieces gently. Driveway pavers are often worth the cost. Paver types like cobblestone, brick, and concrete are highly durable, and permeable paver options can be tremendously eco-friendly. While you may pay more for a paver driveway, you’ll see great returns from the increased curb appeal and low maintenance compared to other types of driveways.
