WE are a locally owned and operated company in Maryland, we employee 50+ . We bill our customer on a quarterly bases.

"If you don’t mind your cans being thrown back into your yard partially filled with trash, left right in the middle of your driveway, lids being left open in the pouring rain allowing them to fill with water, damage being done to your personal cans, or your trash just not being picked up at all, then Chesapeake works. But any normal person wouldn’t want to put up with this type of service. Chesapeake has no respect for their customers, and don’t care that their operators perform service like this. The owner(s) should be ashamed of themselves. Do yourself a favor and switch to a company that cares, like Seagull Disposal, that is cheaper every quarter anyway, has great service, and cares for their equipment, employees, and most importantly, their customers. As other companies scoop up all of Chesapeake’s customers, my hope would be that they realize that what they are doing isn’t working, and they fix their issues."

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

When a dishwasher discharges its wastewater, it uses a pump to quickly move a lot of water. If anything in the drain line or the garbage disposal impedes the high volume of water, it will back up into the sink through the drain or the garbage disposal. Following regular dishwasher maintenance tips like clearing clogs, keeping them cleared, and occasionally running the disposal will eliminate the problem.

Garbage disposals fit the drains of nearly every sink out there due to universal drain hole sizes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, but the same isn’t true for the housing underneath the sink. You need plenty of room to fit a garbage disposal under there, so measure the space ahead of time and use those dimensions when shopping for a new model. If you’re replacing an existing model, get one in that size.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.

While the part of the garbage disposal that attaches to the sink is universal, not every single disposal will work in every sink cabinet. A larger disposal may be too big to fit in a compact space, for example. If the pipes under your sink are arranged in an unusual way, it may be difficult to put in a bigger disposal, even if there technically is enough space.
