"Sobieski did the HVAC/ insulation on my new construction home in 2021. Every summer, there have been condensation issues in the basement bathroom. Multiple technicians have been out and "fixed the issue," but it is still occurring. The last technician quite literally said he watched a YouTube video about exhaust fans while installing a new exhaust fan for us. The company as a whole is incompetent, hard to communicate with, and takes no accountability for their wrongdoings. Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.

Ejector pumps can only push sewage 750 feet or less. That’s because their purpose is to move waste from your home to your sewer line—which is a relatively short distance. Grinder pumps can transport sewage further, but they manage lower volumes of waste than ejector pumps (and they don’t work with septic systems).

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.  

Regular maintenance, such as not disposing of grease or coffee grounds down the sink and routine use of strainers, can prevent clogs.
